Koran By Heart

The students in Pod 6D are exploring issues of identity in nonfiction texts. What better way to create cognitive connections to this theme than to go see a documentary in which young kids are exploring their own identity! On Tuesday 11/01/11 , 31 selected students embarked on a journey to lower Manhattan to the Tribeca Cinema to see the documentary, "Koran By Heart."
The inquisitive students learned a lot about Muslim culture and explored issues of identity that exist across religious and cultural boundaries.

Not only were the students treated to free popcorn but they were also treated to an engaging Q&A after the movie was over. We had a great time and look forward to going again!
Special thanks to Rachel Miller and Tribeca Cinema for making this possible!
